After graduating from New York's Gemological Institute of America (GIA), Faye Kim continued her training in New York City's jewelry district. Before embarking on her career as a designer and goldsmith, Ms. Kim worked at Tiffany & Company specializing in pearls and then as a fine jewelry buyer for Bergdorf Goodman. Faye's extensive knowledge of fine jewelry and gemstones, combined with her training and work experience, enabled her to create a jewelry collection that has been captivating her clients for over a decade.
Whether she is designing a collection or working on a private commission, her joy comes from producing jewelry that is timeless and wearable. She is known for her meticulous signature granulation motif and most enjoys working in 22-karat gold because of its pliability and richness. The granulation detail is based on an ancient decorative technique whereby tiny spheres of gold are fused to a surface without the use of solder. The combination of ancient techniques with modern methods has resulted in a collection that is quite versatile.
Faye Kim's interest in period jewelry and antiquities has inspired her designs and is evident in her collection, which includes intricate hand-woven gold chains and Romanesque cuffs and rings. Each piece tells a story and combines beautifully with other pieces to create a style that is classic, unique and timeless; treasures that can be passed on for generations.
