Faye Kim is a Graduate Gemologist certified by the Gemological Institute of America in New York City. After earning a degree in economics, Faye attended GIA for some fun and diversion. She was drawn to the fascinating world of precious gemstones and pearls as they have always had an aura of mystery to her.

Faye's work experience includes training in New York's jewelry district, as well as the buying offices of Tiffany & Co. and Bergdorf Goodman. This ombination of manufacturing, wholesale and retail experience led her to a creative career in jewelry design and goldsmithing and ultimately to owning her own store in Westport, CT.

In addition to handcrafted one-of-a-kind pieces, Faye's collection also includes some perennial favorites. The models for these are hand-built from silver or gold, or carved out of wax. Casting, using the "lost-wax method" enables production in a variety of precious metals.

Faye most enjoys working in 22 karat gold because of its warm color and because of its pliability. This enables her to add meticulous granulation detail, an ancient technique where tiny spheres of gold are fused to the surface without the use of solder. Each piece is polished to a matte luster to further enhance the gemstone's natural glow.

Faye's interest in period jewelry and antiquities has inspired her designs. Faye is also inspired by the gemstones or pearls she chooses. The shape, color, or light refraction inherent in the gem will often help her shape the piece. Whether designing a collection or working on a private commission, Faye is happiest producing fine jewelry that is timeless, versatile and unique. "I like my clients to be able to wear my designs any time they want – designs that can easily go from day into evening," says Faye. I think that's a part of listening to and designing for the individual and their lifestyle. Her clients find her designs classic and timeless.
